WELFARE CONCERN RESULTS IN ARREST
On 10/27/2024 at 6:51 a.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the area of the 1000 block of Bedell Ave. for a report of a black, passenger car traveling north bound with flat tires.
Upon arrival police saw a US Border Patrol Unit had stopped the vehicle matching the description near Bedell Ave. and Crest Line. Police made contact with the Border Patrol Agent who witnessed the driver of the vehicle, driving with a flat tire.
Police made contact with the driver who claimed he had hit a bump on the road, causing the tire damage. The vehicle had extensive damage, not consistent with hitting a bump. Driver also had blood on his face and hands, along with slurred speech and appeared dazed.
Driver claimed another person was driving his vehicle, but he was the sole occupant of the car. Several clues of intoxication were noted by police after the driver performed the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.
The driver identified as Carlos Daniel Delgado; 19 years of age was arrested for the offense of Driving While intoxicated. A blood specimen was collected and submitted as evidence after a blood warrant was obtained.
Delgado was transported to the Police Station where he was processed, he was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility.
