TRACKING DEVICES & STALKING ARREST
On June 2nd, 2024 a Del Rio Police Department officer responded to the parking lot of the 2200 block of Veterans Blvd. regarding a person locating a tracking device on their vehicle. Upon arrival contact was made with the caller who reported on-going problems with a known male subject identified as Robert Ramos Jr. The caller suspected Ramos had installed a tracking device on her vehicle earlier this year.
The caller told police recently she noticed constant, unintended encounters with Ramos; prompting her to check the vehicle. The caller discovered a second GPS tracker device was installed. The officer checked the bottom of the vehicle and confirmed a GPS tracker was attached. Police removed the tracker and it was submitted as evidence.
On June 16, 2024 at approximately 9:51 a.m. police responded to the 1800 block of McLymont Street for an unwanted male subject. Upon arrival police met with victim, reporting Ramos gained entry into her residence without consent but left prior to police arrival. During the contact, the victim spoke about the previous incidents regarding the tracking devices. The victim had recently purchased a new vehicle; police inspected the new vehicle and a third GPS tracking device was located. The device was removed and turned in as evidence.
On July 19th, 2024 the Criminal Investigation Division executed two search warrants and two arrest warrants for Robert Ramos Jr; 50 yrs. of age and his residence. The search warrants resulted in the collection of Ramos cellphone and additional tracking devices. Ramos was charged with Unlawful Installation of Tracking Device and Stalking. An Emergency Protective Order Application was submitted on behalf of the victim. Ramos was processed at the Del Rio Police Department and was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility.
If you suspect your car is being tracked call the police and report your suspicions, know what a GPS tracker looks like and check your vehicle's exterior, remove the tracking device if found.
