Students Attend Rise and Teach Conference

Students from DRHS's Education and Training and Early Learning programs, along with students from the district's federal programs, recently attended the Rise and Teach Conference at Angelo State University. This initiative is designed to cultivate the next generation of Texas educators by connecting aspiring teachers with valuable resources and mentorship from partner organizations.

Erin Gruwell, founder of the Freedom Writers Foundation, delivered an inspiring keynote address, encouraging future educators to embrace kindness, positivity, and a passion for teaching—qualities that can create transformative impacts in students’ lives.

The conference concluded with the awarding of scholarships to outstanding students, including Erick Garcia and Katelyn Ramon from the Teaching and Training pathway. Their recognition is a testament to their hard work and dedication. This event highlighted the importance of empowering our young educators and their potential to shape the future.
