Queen City Market Hosts Mother's Day Market!

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, at A. Ramon Imports, Queen City Market hosted the Mother's Day Market that featured multiple vendors, live music, and loteria.

Dozens of vendors set up shop, including names like RG Creations, Gordito Style BBQ, Accessories Soraida, Karla’s Katering Services, and El Aditos Snacks. Products ranged from handmade crafts and jewelry to BBQ, aguas frescas, and sweet treats.

A Lotería game kicked off at 10:30 am, and the event had a full slate of live music. Lupita De La Paz opened the performances at 10 am, followed by Gerardo Garcia at noon, and DJ Martinez ended the event with a set from 1 pm to 4 pm. PNC Bank was also on-site, offering resources to attendees.

LOCAL PARISHES MARK ARRIVAL OF POPE LEO XIV

The bells rang out at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday May 8th, moments after the election of Pope Leo XIV. The parish on Wernett Street, along with Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, called for a Mass of Thanksgiving followed by a Holy Hour, which is the tradition of spending an hour in prayer and meditation. During the Mass, congregants were invited to pray for Pope Leo XIV during the subsequent Holy Hour.

Workplace Arrest Occurs in Del Rio: Federal HSI Alien Smuggling Investigation

Del Rio resident and U.S. citizen, Jose Manuel Villanueva, arrived to work as usual on Saturday morning, April 10, 2025. Villanueva clocked in on time around 10:00AM and was scheduled for a double that day. His shift at Long John Silver’s in Del Rio had just begun, when law enforcement agents filed into the establishment and placed him under arrest. Federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) led the operation, with support from state and city agencies.
