Drone Video Shows Sanctioned Street Race Near Amistad Dam

Drone video taken from an area on the the Mexican side of Amistad Dam known as 'el mirador', or 'the lookout', shows a street race taking place. While street racing is illegal in Mexico, the event had state and local law enforcement policing it. The group who organized the event, Spartanos Car Club in Ciudad Acuña, seems to have a mission backed by Mexican officials to take the street racing off the streets.

The City of Del Rio is considering enacting an ordinance, or local law, that would define how loud certain noises, like car mufflers or backyard music, can be before they’re considered a nuisance. The ordinance would also provide a clear guide for the enforcement of the code by officers. The City says its goal is to promote public comfort and health with the acceptance of this ordinance.
