CTE Health Science Students Receive CCMA Certification

Students from the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program at Del Rio High School have received their Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA). In collaboration with Southwest Texas Junior College, this dual credit program awards seven (7) college credit hours upon course completion.  As Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMA), students have gained valuable experience in various areas such as pharmacology, nutrition, psychology, anatomy/physiology, clinical patient care, administrative assisting, customer service, and medical law. Â
CCMA students include Alejandra Bernal, Naiby Cano-Prieto, Evelyn Castillo, Armando Garcia, Victoria Giraldo, Yaretzi Gutierrez, Brianna Hernandez, Natalya Mead, Daniela Quintero, Emily Torres, and Elie Zavala. The CCMA program is one of five capstone programs offered in the CTE Health Science pathway and the program instructor is Mrs. Velma Perez, BSN, RN.  Â
