CRIMINAL TRESPASSING RESULTS IN ADDITIONAL CHARGE

On Nov. 16, 2024 at approximately 10:26 p.m. a Del Rio Police Department officer responded to Wal Mart located at 2410 Dodson Avenue regarding an unwanted male.


While in route, police were informed the male subject identified as Paul Valdez was inside the business and he had an active criminal trespass warning prohibiting him from entering the establishment.


Upon arrival police contacted a Wal Mart Asset Protection employee who stated the male subject was inside the business near the meat isle. Police searched for the subject inside the store but were later notified the subject had exited the business and was walking on the parking lot.

Police located the subject who was carrying several reusable bags containing various products from the store. The subject was unable to provide police with proof of payment for the items. The male was detained and escorted back to the Asset Protection office for further investigation.


A review of surveillance footage revealed the subject walked past the cash registers, making no attempts to pay for the merchandise. The items were described as misc. meat packages, cookies, candies and beverages valued over $100.00.


The subject identified as Paul Valdez; 36 yrs. of age was arrested and charged with the offense of Criminal Trespass and Theft $100.00 < $750.00. Valdez was transported to the police station where he was processed, he was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility.
