BAR FIGHT ENSUED FELONY STOP
On August 24th, 2024, at approximately 1:51a.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to Doc Holiday's Bar located at 202 E. Gibbs St. for multiple subjects fighting.
Upon arriving to the scene officers were informed of an SUV that was leaving with a suspect involved. An officer witnessed the SUV leaving the area at a high rate of speed, screeching tires as it traveled eastbound on Gibbs. The officer observed the driver to be a Hispanic male wearing a white shirt, covered in blood. The officer positioned his patrol behind the SUV and activated the emergency equipment attempting to stop the vehicle.
The driver of the SUV disregarded police and continued to travel southbound onto Veterans overpass towards Garfield disregarding a red light at the intersection with Washington Street. The SUV continued traveling eastbound on Garfield, performing jerking motions, unable to operate in a single lane of travel. Due to the unknown condition of the driver, officers prepared to conduct a felony stop.
The vehicle stopped on Pulliam Street, as officers ordered the driver out of the vehicle a female driver exited. The female was handcuffed and escorted to the patrol unit. Officers cleared the rest of the vehicle where the Hispanic male, covered in blood was located now sitting on the front passenger seat of the vehicle, explaining the jerking motion of the vehicle a few blocks prior to the stop.
The female identified as Arlene Garcia; 39 yrs. of age was arrested for Fleeing from Police Officer and the male Fernando Garcia Jr.; 40 yrs. of age was arrested for Evading Arrest and or Detention with a Motor Vehicle. Officers at the bar corroborated, Fernando disregarded police commands to remain at the scene and drove away in the SUV with the female passenger.
