SATURDAY LONGER RIDE - YOU HAVE ASKED AND WE HAVE DELIVERED! Ana will be leading a long ride on Saturday morning - For Skilled Riders Only Please!
They will be going over 10 miles for longer than one hour. It will be similar to the 10K route, around the winery, etc, but will some added detours to extend the length.
START & END: Mesquite Creek Outfitters MEET TIME: 7:00am ROLL TIME: 7:15am (sharp) SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
PACE: Intermediate (15mph average) DISTANCE: 10+ miles TIME: ~ 100 minutes ELEVATION: +/- 100 ft
RECOMMENDED MATERIALS: Water Helmet Bike Lights (front and rear) Closed Toe Shoes
**GUIDELINES for riding safely with BIKE DEL RIO**
1. PROTECT YOURSELF Wear a helmet, use front/rear lights. Maintain your bicycle. Check and prepare for the weather. Know your limits and abilities. 2. FOLLOW THE LEADER Allow the ride leader to lead and set the pace. This is a social ride. Do not pass the ride leader or ride ahead of the group. 3. EARS AND EYES OPEN Listen closely for instructions. Speak out and echo “stop, turn, car, caution!” Do not use headphones or talk on the phone. 4. YIELD TO CARS Leave at least one lane open for drivers. Yield to all vehicles and pedestrians. Approach intersections with caution. 5. OBEY THE LAW Follow all road rules. Do not ride with an open alcohol container. Please refrain from drinking alcohol before or during the ride. 6. SHOW RESPECT No offensive behavior while riding. Be kind, civil, and welcoming. Absolutely no harassment, sexism, racism, or hate speech.
ETIQUETTE 1. Be mindful of other riders in the group. Keep pace, maintain the train. Be predictable: hold your lane while turning corners, starting, and stopping. Provide adequate space between riders and announce yourself when passing. Pass on the left. Move to the right if riding slowly (up hills). 2. Know that every rider is different. Do not assume skill or comfort levels. Have patience: it might be someone's first group ride. If you see a new rider, introduce yourself and say, “Happy Tuesday!” 3. Be a cycling ambassador. Be respectful to everyone on the road, including drivers and pedestrians. Elevate the perception of cyclists everywhere. 4. Inform a ride leader/volunteer if you see/hear something uncool. do not be afraid to call out bad behavior or enforce etiquette. Politely tell riders, "That is not how we roll." 5. The bike time starts sharp. We will not wait for you! We are chasing the sun and need to be back before dark.
LIABILITY 1. BIKE DEL RIO is not liable for any injuries or accidents. By riding with us, you acknowledge that any sport can be dangerous and that you ride at your own risk. Participation is voluntary. 2. By attending our ride, you consent to have your photograph or recording posted to our social media account. 3. All riders are required to sign the community guidelines document and liability waiver prior to event participation.
